One of Best sushi omakase in town
After trying various sushi omakase places in Seattle, Wataru stands as the top choice so far. The cuts were generous, expertly seasoned, and creative flavor pairings delivered a dining experience that was hard to forget. Each bite showcased the chef’s remarkable talent and careful craftsmanship. Chef was very kind and service was great.
Fantastic omakase, with a lot of courses and a wide variety of seasonal fish and flavours. Both the chef and his wife are great friendly hosts and take care in their craft. Traditional and classy decor, relaxing jazz music. One of the best omakase experiences in the city in my opinion.
My wife and I have tried Suzuki, Kashiba, Takai, Shiros, Ltd, and Taneda. When it comes to edomae omakase, we will choose Wataru every single time. Despite only being run by a husband and wife duo, the service is on point, and Chef Wataru shows immense attention and care to both the customer's experience and to the detail of each individual course. The ambience is very comfortable, and the portion sizes are extremely satisfying. Come here with an empty stomach!! While the omakase price may seem higher than others, we fully believe the number of courses, portion size, and beautifully crafted + delicious courses...
I ordered sushi takeout here, and while eating, I found a fish bone inside one of the sushi pieces. This is something I absolutely did not expect from a place that markets itself as a premium sushi spot.
Chef is nice and friendly. Sushi-wise I was hoping for something more, it started really well and 4 nigiri are high lights and impressed me, the yozi scallop one brings you right into summer, and the one wrapped in clear Hokkaido seaweed feels like a fresh bite of ocean, apple wood smoked salmon has the perfect balance of smokiness. Oysters nigiri is really fresh and well done. However, it didn’t go uphill as omakase usually do where next nigiri tastes even better, towards the second half of course some nigiri feels unbalanced, or even too salty because of overpowering source, hand roll is one of them.. desert d...
Overall, nice omakase place. Good service, everything is fresh and well seasoned. For ~$200 pp, I expect a bit more creative dishes and better dessert.
Was recommended the takeout by a friend since I couldn’t make dining reservations (and I’m moving out of Seattle in a few days). Honestly the takeout alone was phenomenal I can only imagine what the full omakase experience dining in. Would recommend getting the takeout if you can. Need to order when the option opens at 12am Sunday (yep midnight of Saturday evening) for Thursday or Friday orders.
Another great experience at Wataru. Seasonal menu is on point. A crescendo of amazingly prepared fish. Sharing a few pics. Highest recommendation.
Wataru’s omakase was an amazing experience. Each piece of sushi was perfection. We tried new types of sushi which we wouldn’t have picked on our own and were very happy we did. Highly recommend coming for omakase!
We’ve tried several sushi omakase spots in Seattle, but Wataru stands out as the absolute best! The high-quality aged fish, perfectly seasoned rice, and creative flavor combinations made for an unforgettable dining experience. Every bite was a testament to the chef’s skill and attention to detail. The chef was warm and welcoming, and the service was exceptional. We will definitely be back!
非常棒,下一次來西雅圖還要再來
Not even up for debate. The best omakase sushi experience in Seattle, if not the country. A 21 course extravaganza that keeps getting better. I worked for Sony for 20 years and dined at some of the best sushi spots in the US and Japan. This is the best I’ve ever had!
We did a 20 piece omakase and it was absolutely amazing. The service the atmosphere was top notch. The flavors were so unique and thought out. This is my favorite spot so far :)
Arguably the best sushi you'll ever have. Top .1% of sushi in terms of quality. Good luck finding sushi this exceptional, even in Japan. I recommend everything on the menu.
Absolutely incredible. One of the best meals I've had in my life - and the head chef was so wonderful to spend time with. I truly can't say enough good things about the experience. Each dish was different in its own way, and it felt like a tour through different places in Japan, with different flavors and different fish. Everything was unique, 2/3 of the things I ate I had never had before, and the chef talked us through everything. He answered all our questions, was really friendly, easy to sit down with 2 hours and eat and chat. It was my first time doing omakase and it was just incredible. I think the toro pie...
